Each year the University of the Cumberlands students, faculty, and staff step up and collect non-perishable food items for local food pantries. Each year we are astounded by the amount that comes in. Particularly this year, we were deeply moved by how much the University provided. Over 30,000 pounds of canned vegetables, oatmeal, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, Mac & Cheese, Spaghettios, hamburger helper meals, and so much more has filled our downstairs storage area. This will make such a difference in our community.
In a time when life is definitely not normal, when suffering and confusion seem to take the forefront, it is indeed a joy to watch students and staff at UC set all the sorrow and fear aside and choose “to love their neighbor as themselves.”
Thank you and know we who distribute the food are just as blessed by seeing your love in action as those who come to our doors seeking help. You are a blessing to us all.
