Peace by Piece Quilting

Peace by Piece Quilting offers an opportunity to meet needs of young families and the elderly in our area. On Tuesdays at 10:00 am, meet with others who sew and fellowship together as they make quilts. Over 1000 quilts have been distributed to babies, nursing home residents, to local police departments to give to families in crisis, and others who are in need. They meet in the basement of First Baptist Church. All are invited.

G.E.M. – Greet, Eat, and Meet!

Those from the “living longer generation,” those retired, and those who simply enjoy a time for good conversation and good food are invited to meet with G.E.M. at noon on Monday, September 23 in the CLC Kitchen. Bring a potluck dish to share and conversation topics and you will be set!

G.E.M. meets, usually, on the fourth Monday of each month in the Christian Life Center kitchen of First Baptist Church Williamsburg at noon. Make plans to participate in this fun time!

International Students Cook!

University of the Cumberlands hosts many students from all over the world and sometimes they miss food from their homelands. They are invited to come to the Christian Life Center to prepare dishes from their country to share with all comers. They will be cooking again on Thursday, September 26. The meal is served around 8:00 pm, but come early around 7:00 pm and be cooks’ assistants and dishwashers and have a wonderful time visiting with the world at our doorstep.

Alzheimer’s and Other Dementia Caregivers Support Group

On the first Sunday of each month at 2:00 pm, a support group for caregivers of family and friends who suffer from Alzheimer’s or one of the multitude of kinds of dementia meets to discuss, investigate, and offer suggestions and a listening ear to others walking the same path. The group meets in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church Williamsburg which is located in the basement of the main church building. Family, friends, and anyone concerned or caring for someone with dementia is invited to participate.

365 Food Pantry

The 365 Pantry is located in front of the church to assist families during food emergencies during times the church office is closed. The Leap of Faith Sunday School class initiated this missions project, and everyone is invited to participate.

If you would like to donate canned and non-perishable food items, and/or personal hygiene products, you may place items directly in the 365 cabinet or drop the items off in the office.  We are already hearing stories of people who have made use of the 365 Food Pantry and those who are finding a way to minster by putting canned goods in the pantry.
