Missions at FBCW

University of the Cumberlands’ Freshmen move-in day is Saturday, August 18, 1:00-4:00 pm. Anyone willing to carry boxes, bags, and reminders of home to dorm rooms, call the church office to set up a time and place to help. We can welcome the incoming students and offer encouragement and comfort to parents.

The Missions Committee is still working on the Christmas shoe boxes for Kentucky children. Scarlette Jasper, CBFKY missionary, will be distributing these shoe boxes in December.  We are collecting school supplies, such as pencils, pens, notebook paper, colored pencil sets, crayons (16-36 count), cap erasers, and similar items. We will also need hygiene items such as shampoo, deodorant, and hair brushes and combs. (We are in good shape with toothpaste and toothbrushes.) Drop the items off in the wagon outside the church office.

Helping the hungry in Whitley County is major ministry at First Baptist Williamsburg. Through our monthly Food Pantry, we serve a week’s worth of groceries to families on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:00 pm. Volunteers can help serve groceries, carry groceries out to the cars, or visit and make welcome those who enter our church seeking help. We also need volunteers at 9:00 am on the third Wednesday to help bag the groceries to be served. The next date is Wednesday, August 15.

The 365 Outdoor Food Pantry is for emergencies at odd hours. Canned goods and non-perishable food items can be left in the 365 Pantry at any time. It has met needs of families struggling many a time. Feel free to drop items off in the outdoor pantry!
