FBC Thanks UC for Food Pantry Donations

Dozens of University of the Cumberlands’ students showed up last Tuesday, November 23rd, to unload close to 12,000 pounds of food and hygiene items into our Food Pantry. While the food is absolutely amazing and direly needed, the biggest surprise were the hygiene items the students provided funds for. Money the students raised for the Golden Can Food Drive went for laundry detergent, dish detergent, bar soap, household cleanser, toilet paper, and hand sanitizer. These are probably the most requested items aside from food that we get.

The food is always necessary but these other items cannot be purchased with SNAP funds (Food Stamps). Those coming to our food pantry will be thrilled to know they don’t have to spend money needed for rent and utility payments for these desperately needed items.

So, a very big thank you to University of the Cumberlands’ students, faculty and staff for making a huge difference in the lives of those in our community who struggle. You are a blessing!
