After consulting with the staff and church leadership, we have decided to worship online only this Sunday. There will be no in person gathering. We are now faced with the reality that the virus has arrived in our community. None of us are completely confident in exactly what to do, but, through broad consensus, we have chosen a very cautious path for our church.
This turn of events is increasingly taxing on health care providers and caretakers. Please remember them in prayer and encourage them as you can. We also ask that you pray for the leaders in sister churches, at the Whitley County and Williamsburg Independent schools, and at the University of the Cumberlands as they wrestle with how to proceed given our increased cases.
This week we focus on Jesus’ teaching from Matthew 18:15-20. The focus will be on the task of reconciliation and we will ponder what kind of community Jesus intended the church to be. This is a challenging teaching that we each have the opportunity to practice in our lives.
