Promotion Sunday – August 20, 2017

On Sunday, August 20th, we are going to have a Promotion Sunday for our children’s Sunday School classes. As we anticipate a new year, we found this to be a perfect time for our youngest ones to move on up to the next season of spiritual formation and biblical knowledge. We find age specific Sunday School for children within a familiar community is vital to one’s development and understanding.

During the Sunday School hour on August 20th, we invite children and parents to come to the children’s wing downstairs for a time of fellowship and breakfast. We will then introduce our teachers and assemble our new classes for the year. We are excited about this time in the life of our church where we can celebrate growth in Christ through Sunday School.

This year, we are excited to announce that we have a new age set-up for our Sunday School classes. PreK-Kindergarten will be in J. L. Hamblin and Jamie Bowman’s class. Our First-Fifth graders will be in Kids Connect with a host of wonderful teachers, and Sixth graders will now be fully incorporated into the Student Ministry with Associate Pastor Tyler. This is a year of exciting new changes. Won’t you be in prayer for us as we promote our children into the next stage of Christian education

Introducing Summersalt 2017: A four day missions adventure designed for kids. Children, mark your calendars for July 23-26 and plan to come spend some exciting evenings with us as we explore what Jesus meant when he said, “You are the salt of the earth.’

Volunteers, our children will spend four evenings learning about ministry in Appalachia. They will hear from local missionaries, explore Appalachian culture, and even get their hands dirty with some service projects of their own. Because of the unique nature of this summer experience, if you can only work one or two days, we can still use you. Contact Michelle or call the church office (549-0280). We need you!

Shops in the CLC — May 6, 2017

shops in the CLC

The youth and children of First Baptist Church are preparing for camp and you can help! On Saturday, May 6, they will be hosting a uniquely different type of yard sale called “Shops in the CLC.”

While you are doing your spring cleaning, we would love to have some of your gently used items for this special kind of yard sale. It will not look like any yard sale you’ve ever seen before. We are especially looking for the following items: children’s clothing, books, CDs, small appliances, cookware, dishes, collectibles, toys & games, electronics, and furniture.

Contact Michelle (620-8156) about when and how to donate your items.
